The Clinical Immunology Society (CIS) stands in strong opposition to the recent US Supreme Court ruling, Dobbs vs Jackson which reverses the protections granted by Roe v Wade to safe, legal termination of pregnancy in the United States, as well as any other ruling that infringes on female autonomy, the privacy of a physician-patient relationship and the practice of evidence based medicine. As clinical immunology providers, we are often providing genetic and procreative counseling to our patients, and manage life threatening immune deficiency and dysregulation with medications that are not compatible with a safe and healthy pregnancy. By removing this protection, our ability to practice safe, evidence based care and counseling to our patients is threatened.
